veronique d’entremont is an interdisciplinary artist invested in collaborative practice, radical pedagogy and community organizing. Their reciprocal spiritual, pedagogical and studio practices serve as a medium for healing individual and community experiences of trauma.
In 2016 veronique, with a group of formerly-incarcerated artists, co-founded the Liberated Arts Collective. They continue to cultivate transformative spaces and projects, with and for individuals impacted by institutionalization. Their work is supported by the Joan Mitchell Foundation, the California Arts Council, the Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs.
For over fifteen years, veronique d’entremont has been developing reciprocal studio and pedagogical practices where art becomes a medium for building empathy, expressing grief, healing from personal and community experiences of trauma and challenging notions of otherness. Through a multi-disciplinary studio practice, they examine the social and institutional spaces we inhabit, how they shape us and how we can ultimately transform them. Through community-engaged social sculpture projects such as Liberated Arts Collective, they co-create spaces where people from disparate backgrounds can find understanding in each other’s experiences and work toward mutual liberation. At the root of their work is a commitment to collaboration, exchange of ideas and service to others.
